The syllabus reads:

“The Murder Bottle of the Victorian Era
(19th century baby bottles that could kill)

A baby bottle designed in the 1800’s allowed the child to sit upright and feed themselves through a nipple connected to a long straw. The peculiar design of the bottle made it impossible to be cleaned properly with Victorian age technology. As a result of the bacteria build up, many infants fell ill and often died. Infant mortality was very high in Victorian times.

They had acquired the moniker “Murder Bottles” after widespread condemnation by medical communities in the US and abroad, many other cities and states followed suit. New York outlawed the bottles in 1897”
